The flaps are quite tricky, but,if you have the time, they can be very rewarding.I have them modeled in 3d,but I haven't come up with a great mechanism.

flaps

I hadn't seen this, from another discussion, until today but the inboard flaps are the easiest and this is do-able.The outboard flaps are linked to the ailerons,so probably use a separate set of servos with expo.https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rcu...9887edb9a2.jpg

P61...one of my favorites.radial as well. The Caribou used the Pratt & Whitney R-2000-7M2 Twin Wasp .https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rcu...f36898b259.jpg The outer flap was controlled by this linkage, and the aileron -flap was controlled by this linkagehttps://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rcu...d57e03998f.jpg

The link to the other build is this..funny how a common goal usually creates similar approaches...I had never seen this build, and yet it is virtually identical to my intentions and plan.

My design will be done soon! She is 1:10 scale @ 110" {2,8m]. I'd love to send you details if to contact me via email. True scale w/ function ramp and H-stab control!

Hello, very interesting. Until yet i´ve not looked too Close to this aircraft. But Now... i see the Radials (i thought there were Turbines) and the tricky Retracts.
But the Funktion of the Ailerons is not in my mind (until yet). I Think scale 1:8 is possible (wingspan about 3,8 m) with two Methanol v engines(Laser)? My P 61 has Spoilers mixed with Ailerons, but here? I`m looking for more Videos or pictures

the ailerons are small in comparison, and used in conjunction with the inner split of the outer wing flap..so in a normal turn, the inner split on the outside wing panel is flat, and the aileron up???

Charles, that is an excellent summation by drawing views,of the control surface movements.Keep in mind that there are TWO sets of trim tabs, operating in concert with the rudder( omg what rudder servo has to do).I have to figure out how to do an animation of those!!!
Altho I had viewed them in bits and pieces, this does a better job.

very cool thanks.

what I am seeing,is that the outboard aileron acts as a flap,in full down forflap, with the trim tab acting as aileron modifier, used to level the descent or ascent from right to left.We need a caribou pilot here. There is significant down angle on the outboard tips, won't that result in lack of control?
