How to do wing tubes?
I've been looking at building the Sea Twin but I have a short bed pickup and cannot fit a 87" wing in the bed. I thought about a luggage rack on top of my tonneau cover but would prefer not to. A trailer would solve the problem. What are the requirements for using a wing tube and making it a two piece wing? Are there any articles out there on converting one piece wings to two piece? I also thought about making outer wing tips removeable, but then you have a aileron issue. Any ideas?
Thanks, JC |
RE: How to do wing tubes?
Not sure if this helps, but here's a thread I did on a 2 piece wing. The wing I built is abit smaller, but should give you some ideas of a home brew setup.
http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showt...ece+wing+kadet This plane is still going strong with about 200 flights on it. i also have a 96" old timer with a 2 piece wing using this method. Used the same method on a 1.5 meter glider, 2 meter glider ( 3 piece wing) and 2 park fliers, but only used one smaller rod instead of 3 5/32" rods. Outer tips do not have to be an issue re the ailerons. Are the ailerons full span or barn doors? IF barn doors, then just put a servo in each out pannel. If full span, you can join the break using the same method as the wing rods, but use much smaller rods. |
