Control line to RC, what modifications?
 

I picked up a old set of Air trails Magazine plans for a Martin B-26 Maurder that was originally designed for control line use.

Does anyone have any idea if any modifications are normally needed when converting a control line model to RC use? CG's, wing incidence? It called for 4 degrees of incidence, I believe to match the original scale outline.

Any other ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.

About the only things done specifically in CL designs were:

In stunt airplanes (mostly) some designs had the inside wing slightly larger than the outside. The usual method was to shorten the outer wing by half a bay. Doubt the Marauder plan is for a stunt airplane but it's easy to check.

A lot of CL airplanes had the rudder or the fin/rudder offset. You're probably going to have movable rudders, but look closely at the plans to insure that the fin isn't offset.

Check the construction... CL models "could" be built heaver than RC planes and some were. Also, some designs had wings built like fins... Thin and no airfoil, as they relied on the centrifugal force to keep the plane in the air.

Actually, flat plate and symmetrical airfoils provide lift just like "real" airfoils. Give anything a degree or two of Angle of Attack and you got lift.

And if you've ever flown CL and had the airplane not pulling, but still flying around, you know they don't rely on centrifugal force. After all, they got none on takeoff and it really isn't a player until the airplane has some speed built up.
