ELEVON OR ELEVATOR

1 Attachment(s)
I am building a reasonably LARGE version of Laddie Mikulaskos FORCE ONE
However, I have to make the wings as detachable.

His plans call for two elevons and a center elevator.

Normally, I eliminate the center elevator and make two LONG elevons

With electronic mixing like it is today, I can make them work as a complete elevator or as a set of elevons.

Q) If I leave the plans as original, can I make the "MIX" to work.

i.e. --see attachment -- both Red areas & the Blue -- all go UP and DOWN - staying together or choose the two red ELEVONS to act as AILERONS alone

RE: ELEVON OR ELEVATOR

A guy at our field has a flying wing type of airplane that has four control surfaces for elevator and aileron mixed together, so why not.
He also has a mix to the throttle to counter torque.

You get more elevator authority from a seperate elevator.
The ailerons only are more effective in roll over elevons.
The operating area has a longer moment arm.
The inner area of the elevons does little for the roll rate, a lot for the drag.
