HOW DO I LOCK?
I have made a 60"WS DELTA. I made the wings to be removeable but it seems that they are very loose than I'd like them to be.
I used 3/8" glass arrow shafts for the slide connector. I used 1/8" plywood wrapped in a square around the rod and epoxied into the wing between the ribs. When they slide into place, it seems like they are somewhat loose even though I used over 12" of glass rod. Q) How might I anchor the receiving side of the rod that goes into a "like" receptor? marwen1 |
RE: HOW DO I LOCK?
I have a friend who uses rare earth magnets to hold the wings on his F3F racing sailplane. He DS's it, and the magnets never let go. On the ground, you gently pop them loose and slide the wing off.

RE: HOW DO I LOCK?
You know, I NEVER thought of using those. for the wings. I have used them quite a bit for the canopies however, at this point, I am too far into this project to change now.
Great idea though. I bight end up going that way if all else fails. thanks marwen1 |
RE: HOW DO I LOCK?
You know, I gave it some more thought about your suggestion.
Initially, I was interperting it to be for the entire method of joining the two pieces but then I looked at it as thought it were to "tie: things up. So, I went to our local LEE VALLEY supplier and bought about ten, 1/2" x .125" round rare earth magnets. Even putting 5 of them on either side of ONE section of two pieces of .125" ply. It hold OK but certainlywwon't hold when it's kickin' in at 125 MPH I'll have to find a source on-line and get some good BAR stock Thanks again marwen1 |
