MONOKOTE PROBLEM

Every now & then, I get a few marks of whatever color MONOKOTE, transferred to a lighter color. Probably from a dirty iron.

(I finally got smart and went out and bought a "sock" for my iron)

Q) How do I get the transferred marks off?

RE: MONOKOTE PROBLEM

I use Monokote Trim Solvent, made by Top Flite. It activates the adhesive in Monokote without heat. It also removes adhesive (solvent) which also contains the color.

Just a little on a Q-tip, wipe away immediately with a dry Q-tip or paper towel and the color smears go away. Avoid putting too much around a seam between two colors, as it will bleed the color right out from under the film.

A little bit, that's all. Experiment and you'll soon get the touch.

PS. It also takes off any Sharpie layout lines you have. Rubbing alcohol will also take off Sharpies, but will not remove the covering color smears.

A sock can trap a lot of dirt. Buy some Ironex and clean the goop off of your iron.

Acetone works well too. Moisten a Q-tip with it and wipe the smear away.

RE: MONOKOTE PROBLEM

OK

The sock works GREAT, but it manages to get a brown iron burn. I've turned it down (the temp)

How do I get rid of the (n0w dirty) sock?
