Help with torque wire
1 Attachment(s)
It's hard to describe but the plans show the aileron wire built into wing before sheeting the top. I am at a loss figuring out how to make the bends on the ends of the wires.
It's really hard to get pliers in there to hold the wire for the second bend. Any suggestions?? Plans call for 3/32 music wire, am thinking of using something a bit smaller or softer... |
RE: Help with torque wire
seems to me that you bend the 90 degree bends on the wire first then slip the ribs onto the wire all at once then just position them over the plan.Do the ribs show where the hole is for the torgue rod?

RE: Help with torque wire
Music wire is much too hard. Buy a rod threaded at one end. Easy to bend in a vise then tap with a hammer to tighten up the radius. Cut the brass bearing tube to length, slide it over the rod and then bend the other end to fit. Be sure to make right and left hand wires!
My preference with the barndoor ailerons shown on your plan would have been to install two servos and eliminate the torque wires. Opinion- torque wires are easy to make but a bear to install with everything aligned precisely. |

RE: Help with torque wire
I've cut a slot then scabed in a piece of balsa. If weakening is a concern, scab in a piece on both sides of the cut.
Edwin
|
