Default Sig 1/6 Cub on floats

I'm planning to start this kit soon and wonder if anyone else has done this. Power will be electric and I plan to get foam floats from Sea Plane Supply. Fiberglass Specialties has a Super Cub conversion cowl for it.
Comments/concerns?

I wish there would have been some replies to this thread. I recently built one of these planes again, after having one about 30 years ago. I have a Saito .40 on it. It sure is a fun kit to build (though it does require good building skills).

Now I am thinking of adding some DIY floats to it. Back in the day, I built and flew with a few DIY floats, and had a blast doing so.

Can some person explain how to setup a high wing airplane for floats. Like where should the step be? I just got back on these forums. Thanks In advance

The step should be a little behind the CG, maybe 1/2" for a 6ft span plane. The idea is to have the at-speed planing surface under the CG. If too far forward, the plane'll sit nose high and plow around in a high drag attitude. If too far aft, you might not be able to rotate for takeoff.

I've been flying my 1/6 SIG Cub on wheels and built-up floats since 2004 with an OS FS-26. A great flying model!
