Default My 12 foot electric Sunderland II

Here is a pic of my scratch built Sunderland II seaplane..It spans 12 feet with a 9 1/2 foot fuse..All balsa with a fiberglassed hull.It is powered by 4 E-flite 32 brushless outrunner motors with 75 amp Thundertiger esc`s..The plane is not far from being finished. It weighs less than 20 pounds ready to fly.The plane is being modeled after the Sunderland that is owned by Kermit weeks @ fantasy of flight in Florida..The only known Sunderland to still be in flying shape..The motors are swinging TT 12.5 X 5.5 props on 14 volt lipos..Ill update when its test flown...

I have tested alot of diff batteries..Will probibly settle with electrify 14 volt lipos no less than 4000 mah....It will have 4 batteries under the cockpit. It needs 3 pounds of weight in the nose to balance out and those four batts do it..I should get up to 20 minutes of run time.

Good evening,

I saw a copy of the 12' Sunderland plans on E-Bay (Uncle Willies), and wondered if this is the same plan you used for your Sunderland? Are the plans worthwhile to build from? Did you finish your project? Do you know if any accessories are available for the this plan (UK?) such as cowls, gun turrests etc?

Appreciate the help!

Jeff

It would be cool to know where some of these cool builds are.. Sitting in a garage? attic? Crashed 3 years ago?
