For those in Northern Alberta, (or anywhere else for that matter) The 3rd annual float fly will be held at the Paddle River Dam Site on May 16-19.
The site is great and for those who have never been there picture about a mile of unobstructed shoreline, very few people using the water, free camping, toilets only, and the friendliest guys in this part of the world. If you are unfamiliar with how to get there, follow highway 43 northwest of Edmonton for 1 1/2 hrs until you come to the town of Rochfort Bridge. You will recognize it by the bridge. Take the first turn south after the bridge and follow the signs for 1 1/2 miles. No registration fee and no camping fee. MAAC membership required.
1/3 scale Cubs, Northstars (we expect 4 this year), seaplanes, float planes, you name it, it should be there. Lots of guys to give the newbees a hand too. Retrieval boats available for those unfortunate enough to need one.
For further information contact Doug Shaver at 780-785-4111 or [email protected]
You can also contact myself at 780-486-2278 or [email protected].
Last year we had 24 fliers and about 35 aircraft. we're looking forward to beating that this year.

Just a reminder to the float flyers in the Edmonton region that the Paddle River float Fly is this weekend. The water has been checked and it is soft and all permits etc have been tended to. See you there.
