Seamaster vs Sealane
 

Does anyone know what the different flight characteristics are between a TT arf Seamaster and the Sig Sealane, would like to build the kit but spring is right around the corner, we hope, but have not seen an arf in a seaplane that was too great, although the Seamaster has a good reputation. Which one would fly the best with a OS 46 FX or Super tigre .51? Flipstart

I've seen the Seamaster fly off the Chesapeake in a pretty good chop with an OS .46 FX. Can't speak for the Sealane.

From what I've seen of the Sealane, it's laser cut and goes together very quick. There are some threads on it here, I've so far seen nothing negative about it.

Tigger, there's gotta be a place in the James River for float-flying. Have you checked out the James River Park?

I gave them a call, they seemed to think that flying an R/C seaplane would be OK, although I wasn't totally confident that they knew exactly what I was on about. The park is out of Richmond about 80 miles away, and I think I'd need to take a look before just turning up with a plane.

The Hanover RC web site has a set of photos of a float fly, but they've been there for at least a year with no indication of where the event took place. I'm going to their swap meet next weekend, so I'll ask about it.

We have a guy in our Club that has a SeaMaster with a OS 46LA for power and he says it could use more. If it were me, I'd go with the 46FX.
I just finished up a SIG Sealane and hope to take it out for a test fly this weekend, if the weather is good. I'll let you know how it does.......

Surprisingly, while surrounded by water, virtually no flying off water that I'm aware of happens here - with the exception of my friend Dominic. And I've seen him do it once in 3 years last summer. Salt/brackish water is the big deterrent I'm told. I'm hoping to fly mine in the snow rather than water - unless I find some ideal situation with a beach/boat/fresh water scenario. I just added the picture this morning. Probably wont finish it till snow threatens. Planning a K&B 48 or Super Tigre 51 for power. :D
