Twinkle. 24" wingspan seaplane, based on the NorthStar. Also the pullout plan of the latest FlyRC magazine. :D

RE: What Is The Smallest Floatplane???
Ken Willard designed a number of small float planes one of which was the Pond Hopper. I believe it had a 23" wingspan. Power was a Pee Wee 020. I started to build on but micro electronics were not available back then. It would be a great one to try these days.
I saw one of his other designs a few years ago when I went out to BC. It was even smaller and it flew well although from a handlaunch. Peter |

Here's the smallest successful floatplane I've ever seen: [link=http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_895809/anchors_895809/mpage_1/key_MUDBUG/anchor/tm.htm#895809]Matchlessaero's Mudbug[/link]

I've had the urge to try and marry a float plane up to one of these 12g outrunner kits... http://www.vs-modelltechnik.de/k001u001s001.htm ...motor that's half the weight of the one currently driving the Twinkle. Was even thinking of a 12" Twinkle... or similar. "Small" and "Water" is just such a fun mix. I recommend it to anyone! :) |

Just when I let my susbscription lapse since I get too many magazines, they put in something I really want. Oh, well, I guess I can pick it up at the LHS. |
RE: What Is The Smallest Floatplane???
There was a plane a while back called the Pondbaby It ran with wes tec servos, and a very small electric motor, I found the constriction artical, and they list it as 2.8oz, there is a bigger version of the plan around now also, which is probably a more practical design.
