Float Plane Heaven

If you like float planes come to Salmon Arm BC the first full weekend of June or the weekend after Labor Day, actually the full week befor for each.

These guys build float planes that could hold their own against most Scale Masters entries. Many fine scratch builts with engineering and workmanship to make your mouth water. Not to mention some of the nicest people you will ever meet.

Salmon Arm

Heck if you live in Republic you are half way there. I'M in Spokane. The events are always the first FULL weekend of June and the weekend after Labor day. Many of us go up the week before. The Float Flys are loacted an Sandy Pointe Campground, Just outside of Salmon Arm BC There are many campsites with RV hookups and a few cabins that are very rustic. There are several motels in S.A which is only about 3 miles away and you can usually find someone who us camping to babysit you plane overnight if you don't want to take it back and forth

Hey Blackhawk,

Thanks for the info. I will try to make it next year. I am currently working on a PBY but doubt I or it will be ready by then. Too many projects, a TF GS Corsair, WM GS 51, etc.

It is truly a model airplane heaven!!! Warm sandy beaches, tons of airplanes to ogle at, and even fly with, if you bring a float plane.....

Then there are the surprises.... you never know who will show up with what. This year it was not one, but two giant HU-16 Albatross flying boats. The lightest one weighed 64 lbs.

Hi Guys,
My father flew in a PBY in the 3rd ERS & would like to build one. Any suggestions on what kit is best?
