How much flex do you get from the nyrod?
When flying my northstar at high speed it lags when I pull back on the stick.When I am inverted and push foward on the stick it responds instantly.My conclusion is where the nyrod goes thru the gas tank area with no support must flex.Any input is appreciated-

You are probably correct. Mine is OK but the elevator is a little sluggish anyway because I believe it is a little short coupled. Elevator moment arm from the CG. If you want response, use ailevators. I have two aileron servos and use them as flaperons for trimming purpose. They are very effective. So you could couple the elevator, via computer transmitter, to the ailerons as additional elevators, ala control line.

It's a pain to repair the North Star due to the way it is built. I bought mine already built and I have had to remove the complete bottom and replace the throttle cable. Now the tank leaks, the builder believed in incapsulating the tank. It will be another pain to remove it and fix.

I have built 4 Northstars, so have developed my own mods for it that I believe are appropriate and make it an even better flyer than Laddie originally designed. Laddie seemed to agree with that assessment the last time he looked them over.

For the elevator I have a balsa piece glued to the bottom of the nacelle behind the tank through which I run the Nyrod. You can easily make this in two pieces and CyA them together and to the nacelle if you want, but in either case you will need to change the trim as you will likely be changing the effective length of the control rod. Here's a picture of one of mine in which you may be able to see the mod - behind the balsa end piece that is removable. Hope that this helps...

I fixed that problem by inserting a length of 2-56 rod into the yellow nyrod center took a bit of cuting and recutting until I got it right. The Red outer part of the nyrod is straight the last 3-5 inches on mine so I adjusted the lenght of the 2-56 rod until it didnt have to make the bend into the fuse.
