Home Brew Floatplane

A home brew design, little like a Super Marine, 40FS engine, 11x6 prop, home brew floats, all covered with Monokote. No water rudder, I never use them. All up weight about 3+ lbs. It will go straight up out of sight. Very responsive and fun on floats. No special procedures regarding water, no receiver in plastic bag, nothing special except good tight covering job. The floats are just enough to float the plane, it jumps out of the water if full throttle is used, realistic takeoffs and landings with partial throttle.
Float flying is the most fun RC flying there is I think. I feel that most floats on RC planes are too large. The larger the floats the more they deter good flying performance. I have had many great RC float planes, this pictured one is by far the greatest. It's called the "Four Flusher". Gene |

Wow! Great plane! Is that cowl spun aluminum?

very nice plane, i love the entire design, it looks classy, like some kind of mid 40s speedster on floats.

Thanks, it's supposed to look a little like a Super Marine. It was a full size design on floats.

Cowl - Spun Aluminum
Yes, I have two of them. I had them from my control line days, have no idea what they went with but they are VERY light and work well for this type of installation. I polished it with a buffing wheel, it shines like chrome.

Nice looking plane. Did you use any other plane as a base? Those little O.S. fours are fun motors. I have one and so does my friend. He has his on a quickee with floats and it is a ball. I'm sure his is a little heavier than yours but is still fun.

A friend had put together something similar, wing span wise, and I modified it. The FS40 is light and powerfull and really is fun with this plane.
