RCM Sea Twin
Just wondering how many have been built and are flying. There was a post on this a couple years back, but no flights that I know of.
I've been sitting on the plans for about 3 years, and they're starting to look pretty good. I think I'll buy a kit from Precision and use a pair of Magnum 70 RFS engines. |

RE: RCM Sea Twin
i bought my plans when they first came out (picture in photo gallery seaplanes) good winter project made a few changes from plans .went with 2 throtle servos behind fuel tanks rather than bell cranks .went with twin tower 60 motors(plenty of power very aerobatic and reliable) had to mount motors up for stock mufflers to clear wing.round radial cowls made from large cool whip bowls.about 20 flights so far. comes off water good (30 40 feet)nice smooth landings. use heavey 1/8 ply on tip floats {broke one}

RE: RCM Sea Twin
Bob, I'll say nice things about the Magnum .70 four-stroke. My son has one on a Sig Kadet Senior and he flies 3D with it. Freaks people out. It has been very reliable.

RE: RCM Sea Twin
One has to contact Precision for prices. Also, for various reasons, mostly size & cost, I decided against the Sea Twin. I think I'm going to go with the Vintage plans PBY, at 72".

RE: RCM Sea Twin
The Sea Twin, at 87", is pretty big for carrying in most cars and trucks. A buddy and I were talking about one, and we were planning to take it down to our local Engineering Drawing place and have it reduced to a 70"-72" span. We have only paid $2.75-$3.00 per sheet for this. My buddy has had page sized 3-views blown up to RC size and done his own plans. Shrinking it to 2/3rds size should be easy.
