propellors for float flying

I am putting my 1/3 scale cub on floats and have read that wood props are not good for float planes. What are guys using? I need a 23x8.

Thanks
Mark

I've been using a Dynathrust 22/10 for the the last 15 yrs. on my cub. Wood and carbon props don't work, they shred in no time!.I don't know if APC make a prop that big(23/8)
I just came back from a week-long float fly here in B.C. and a fellow had a custom privateer with a wood prop that he fastened a strip of copper foil to the leading edge of the prop. The foil was obtained from a place that sells stained glass window supplies. He flew lots and the prop stood up well. I was impressed with it.

Cheers, Dave.

I understand the foil is sticky-backed. I think he stuck it on and worked it around the tip much like you would with covering, and then burnished it with a piece of wood or plastic.
There was about 3/16-1/4 in. of foil on the front and back faces of the prop and over the leading edge of course.

Cheers, Dave.

I used aluminum tape from Michaels crafts. It is 1/4 inch wide sticky backed. Worked like a charm. They also have copper foil tape but I thought the aluminum would look better. I made several flights with a Vess 23c and no problems.
