SIG KADET SR FLOAT REC.
 

i have a sig kadet sr that i would like to put floats onto.looking for advice on the floats and the mounting of them.any advice would be great

i'm building one now, it to is destined for floats, some day http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/js/f...n/rolleyes.gif maybe this summer. there was an ama magazine issue about a year ago with info on float flying. it has some good tips for the setup. good luck</p>

The attachment of my Senior Kadet should give you an idea of where to mount the floats. They are 48 inches long, made from Sullivan stock foam and covered with fiberglass and epoxy. The tip is three inches in front of the spinner. They added about 3.5 pounds, making about 11 pounds total weight. It's a great flying plane, with several hundred flights since 1999. Good luck.

Here are the basics:
Float length should be about 75% of the tip-of-spinner to hingeline-of-rudder length.
Float spread(distance between centers) should be about 25% of wing span.
Float Step should be about 1/2" behind the CG of the plane.
Wing should have about 2-3degrees positive incidence between it and the top of the floats.

Take a look at the photo gallery in my website. When I was a member of the Florida Float Flyers, fully half of the members had a Senior. I was the renegade....I flew a telemaster.

Sr Kadets usually take 40"Floats.
