Small-Scale Float Plane
Hi There!
I'm looking for my first float plane and am finding it hard to find one that suits me. I would like a relatively small scale one but not some cheap toy, which seams to be the only thing I can find in small scale. I would also prefer an ARF or RTF. Any suggestions? |

RE: Small-Scale Float Plane
I second the motion for the Seawing. Small, flys well and cannot be considered a toy.
Get the RXR version (less expense that outfitting the ARF), a 4 to 6 channel 2.4 radio and several LiPo packs. Have fun. |
RE: Small-Scale Float Plane
I maidened my Seawind RxR yesterday. Only had time for one flight, had to take the wife and kids boating after that. It flew great. I still have to spend some time trimming it, but I think it was a good choice.

Congratulations!
The Seawind EP is a great flying plane with no bad habits. The only problem I have with mine is at full throttle in flight. It is so fast it gets real small real quick!! Enjoy it. |
RE: Small-Scale Float Plane
Thanks. It's a fun little plane. I had time for one more flight tonight as the sun was setting. This is only my second electric, also have a slow stick. It's kind of nice to only have to carry a small plane and plastic tool box that holds a transmitter, batteries, and has room to spare for extra props and some tools.
However, as soon as we get our new house built several of the ARFs I've got saved away will get assembled as float planes. The smaller ones may get motors, but some will definitely get fitted with engines. |
RE: Small-Scale Float Plane
Anyone have any experience with the latest version of the Seawind FP? Looks neat & the price is right. It comes with a 400 motor. Is that enough?
Thanks Norm |
