Hold the car on a bench ,slowly apply throttle ,listen for the noise ,see if only the front ,if 4x or rear tires spin,not familiar with this car but it's the spur gear or a diff ,

The HPI trophy buggy flux is really close to being the same car just cheaper,buy that stock motor mount and any other parts you need on eBay there are tons of parts ,I've converted 3 for the kids ,

A boat motor is a car motor,you just slide a cooling jacket over it ,if you go brushless you will need an ESC to run lipo,you can buy combos anywhere ,you deside how much power you want ,right now...
