If your painting a scale jet Tamiya Acrylic is hard to beat. I also use Tailor Made paints which are Acrylic and Fuel Proof without clear. I always Use a Two part automotive clear over both brands....

I got my version upainted. So far no slop in anything but still may replace the hinges. Definitely revamping the elevator setup with different bearings and supports.

Full scale F-16 gear takes about 4-5sec to retract. The video I watched of the T-7XL gear took 12sec. Its really slow. I will want to try and get closer to scale speed if possible.

Do yourself a favor and get a good crimper some powerbox servo leads and never look back. I wire everyone of my jets servos and lighting systems with Powerbox Maxi wire and connectors.
