I believe you are right, at the end of the day and assuming it is used engine, it's called gambling. Sometimes the buyer wins and sometimes the seller wins.

I've recently purchased a couple of OS max 46axii and a 55ax and it is printed on the box "made in Japan" and word "Japan" is printed on the engine casing. I think given this thread goes back 10...

I have never bought any used rc engine off Ebay yet and don't intend to for reasons already outlined.




Also, Ebay "can be"... a great place for getting ripped off buying a used engine.

Buying a 'used' engine on ebay is just plain silly. NIB new in box only. Unless, you are after static spare parts, like a complete carb or crankcase, but expecting a workable engine used forget it,...

I've been reading on rcgroups forum and one guy claims his OS 46ax has done about 350 hours of flying time. This means approx. 2000+ flights.

Yep, in addition, the Dub Jett is twice as expensive as an OS engine and its little wonder that the Dub Jett 46 can reach 16k rpm using 15% nitro with a 9x6 prop.

15% nitro fuel is about 30% more...

I think that is still too expensive, piston/sleeve sets should be in the region of about $30~$40 max and should be easy to buy.

What is needed here is for a third party company producing spare piston/liners for various glow engines, I'm surprised this hasn't already happened.
