RE: How to set up for 3D

On the transmitter itself, set the servo travels to 125% (for JR or Spektrum). If it's a Futaba transmitter, it's called "EPA - End Point Adjustment". The idea is to get the surfaces to move about...

RE: How to set up for 3D

High rates on all three controls (aileron, rudder and elevator). Use 50 - 70% expo on all three also. Choose a plane that seems to hover well. I'm not familiar with that simulator, so can't...

RE: rearmounted carbs.

I have a DA85 and it runs fine. The carb goes through the firewall and the air is drawn in from around the inside of the motor box. The motor box itself has holes in the sides and top and bottom. ...

RE: Fuel Barb Soldering Help Please!

I don't use barbs for that very reason. I secure the Tygon gasoline line to the brass tubes with a very small tie-wrap. Put one on every connection point inside and outside the tank.

If you...

RE: pull/pull wire crossing

I don't think so. I have drawn it up in CAD and I have also calculated it using trigonometry. When the servo is deflected 45 degrees, the rudder goes the opposite way (when the lines are crossed),...

RE: pull/pull wire crossing

With crossed wires there is NO geometry that will exactly maintain the same line tension.
With straight wires, you can set the length of the servo arm to the same length as the control horn and...

RE: pull/pull wire crossing

I don't like the crossed setup as the lines get slightly tighter and looser as the system is rotated. Some like them crossed because you can get a slightly shorter exit slot.

RE: DA100-Ran perfect until today-went rough midflight

I'm predicting: "Intermittent ignition problem - may be heat related"

This has happened to me. The ignition module works for a while but after it gets to a certain temperature, one half of it...

RE: servo arm length vs torque rating

The torque measured at the servo is the same whether you use a 1 inch arm or a 4 inch arm.

The torque measured at the hinged surface depends upon the ratio of the servo arm as compared to the...

RE: Batteries

Nickel metal hydride (NiMh) batteries can self-discharge as much as 1% per day. So 30 days after they are charged they could be discharged by 30 percent. NiCd is not as bad. Lithium batteries...

RE: Pushrod Geometry

Yes, with the servo arm poking through a slot, the arm should still be perpendicular to the pushrod when the surface is at neutral.

RE: Pushrod Geometry

your first picture is right. The servo arm and the pushrod must be a 90 degrees when the surface is at neutral.

RE: R922X vs AR9110

I think its the same receiver, branded under two names. But I can't prove it. I have the Spektrum version and it has worked flawlessly.

I have succcessfully swapped 3W and DA ignition pick-ups without any modifications. I don't know the answer to the second question.

RE: Soldering woes

I think you may need more heat. I use a propane torch when soldering up large diameter (e.g. 1/8) music wire. Also sand the wires clean before you start. And as far as flux, use plenty. I don't...

RE: making a Y harness

I'm assuming you're asking about a SERVO "Y harness":

Take one male servo plug and two female servo plugs. Strip all 9 wires about 1/4 inch. Solder the three black wires together. Then solder...

RE: Hitec digital servo- stripped gears

I have had good luck with replacing gears myself. Sometimes the case top also needs to be replaced. It's a pretty straightforward repair. You'll just need a small screwdriver to take out the four...

RE: Battery question

Yes, a 5-cell NiMH (6 volt) pack will work fine. But make sure it is of large enough capacity to handle the loads of the servos. Don't put a 800 mAh NiMh pack in a plane with 6 or 8 large servos.

RE: Servo screws

Do secure the screws with some threadlocker (or silicone). Also check your propeller. If it is out of balance, this will exacerbate the problem.

RE: Beginner Setup Issues

Well if the battery worked OK on another engine with a similar load, then it's probably OK. Is the 3500 kV (jet) motor a similar size (in watts or Amps) to the 1400 kV airplane motor? The kV of a...

RE: Beginner Setup Issues

It could be that the battery did not get charged. Do you have the type of charger that tells you how much energy was put back into the battery? Or is it just a light that comes on? Do you have...
