You get what you pay for with free sims. The 'free' sims are ok for getting your mind wrapped around the 3rd person orientation thing, but the physics on them usually suck horrendously.

I bought an $8 .50 caliber ammo can from a local army surplus store. I figure they are rated to withstand ammo explosions, so they should be able to withstand a little lipo combustion.

Ahh I stand corrected =)

I also started out with the Impala .30 with training gear - and after crashing a couple of thousand times, switched to the version without training gear. =)

What sort of run times are IC people getting over electric? (I have no idea what IC run times are like) I'm getting 20+ minute runtimes on my Shogun 400, and hear tale of 20 minute runtimes on LiPo...

I can't deny the draw of the Raptor .50. =) Great performance, handling, and more importantly the local hobby shops have tons of spare parts. I'm having a good time learning on my Shogun and RFG2...

Well micro electrics are definantly significantly tougher to learn on, especially the crappy little $250 fixed pitch ones. I tried flying a piccalo fun, and these things really take an expert to set...
