RE: Retracts for a PBY 5A [Kyosho kit]

Hello Azimut :D

I think, that this size Catalina is too small for such complex retracts. And mounting complicated machinery would make the plane too heavy. It is too heavy even without...

RE: PBY-5A Catalina

And the wing in Kyosho kit has raised up wingtips. I was thinking to make new wingtips (I didn't glue them permanent) and make them straight like original and maybe a little longer...

RE: 2x.15 for Twinstar enough?

On the other hand, the almost 70" wingspan Catalina flies very good with a pair of .15 Magnums. I know - it is a bit different plane - big wing. But as always You can make it heavy and fast, or light...

RE: PBY-5A Catalina

I don't think so. With four strokes You can use larger three bladed props - very scale looking :) And that sound of two four strokes !!!
Just keep eye on the weight - Kyosho kit is quite heavy...

RE: Hackers' Osprey X-28G & H.Lobby's Donald 4

IMHO it is only matter of Your personal preference. I'm using a regular Speed400 motor and 8x1200 NiCd battery and with this setup the plane has barely proper balance (the battery is fully ahead in...

Here You go:

Hacker X28A Osprey - buiding manual (1.17MB, PDF)

I was out of my office today so I ordered one of my men to scan and prepare it and I see now, that quality is poor [>:]. If...

Mirage -

- I found the manual, but no good news :( It's the Czech one [sm=disappointed.gif]. Of course I can make a scan and convert it into PDF for You if You only find it useful....

Give me couple of days - I'll try to find it. AFAIR the manual which came with my Osprey was the english one.

RE: G&P Sales PBY-5A Catalina

My Catalina is sitting pretty much down in the water too, but there's no big deal to get her on the step and finally to the air. The trick is to operate properly with elevator. First keep it full up...

RE: PBY-5A Catalina

highroller,

Ivan is right - the scale speed is easier to achieve with light model and there is less power necessary in such case, but there is always a dark side too: when flying in a real world...

RE: PBY-5A Catalina

highroller

IMHO Speed 400 for over 2 meter plane is a bit weak... I remember my Multiplex Twinstar with 1.42m wingspan, 1500g all up weight, and two 400s - flew like a cow. Lazy cow ;). It was...

RE: PBY-5A Catalina

OK - the new video:

Catalina3_low (2min38s, 9.6MB, WMV9)

The above clip contains mostly scenes from the maiden flight, so flight it's not rock stable due to some necessary "in flight"...

RE: Catalina as a twin trainer??? - YES !!!

Here the new video:
Catalina2_low (2min38s, 9.6MB, WMV9)

Unbelievable - engines are just tiny .15-s but the sound of two working together is great !!! Especially on lower rpm's Catalina sounds...

PBY-5A Catalina

In the last few days I've finished and succesfully flown my Catalina (discontinued Kyosho ARF, ~70" wingspan, 2x Magnum XL15A).

Catalina was my dream since I've returned to building models four...

RE: Hackers' Osprey X-28G & H.Lobby's Donald 4

Yes - You're right ;) The facts are that the battery was empty, the plane was pretty far from me (the camera uses lots of ZOOM), and a motor boat was approaching with big wave so I was pressed to...

RE: Hackers' Osprey X-28G & H.Lobby's Donald 4

Well - it's a lightweight plane. A 400 is enough to fly. Consider eventually a small brushless motor. LiPoly batteries are too light and You are not able to balance model unless You put a 5000mAh...

RE: Hackers' Osprey X-28G & H.Lobby's Donald 4

I have the "regular" one Osprey from Hacker with electric power (SPEED400) and in my opinion it is too delicate to accept glow engine. Even light and small OS10LA seems too heavy for me.

Catalina as a twin trainer??? - YES !!!

Yesterday I made first succesfull flight with my Catalina (discontinued Kyosho ARF, ~70 inches wingspan, two Magnums XL15A). I'm very satisfied with the plane. Two tiny engines - but the sound of...

RE: 72" PBY Catalina engines and fuel tanks questions

Hello Jan!

6mm is a significant change... Don't You have problems with e.g. "pumping" or different behavior with slow and high speed??? Should fly slower at all...

With the Magnums - for...

RE: 72" PBY Catalina engines and fuel tanks questions

Hello Jaka !!!

Greetings across the Baltic Sea!

I have chosen Magnums (except that they have ball bearings and better carb) mostly because all the world here flies with OS Max (I have some...
