Ugly Stik is a very stable platform no matter what you think of the aesthetics. I would think it would be much more impressive out in the open on the front of that thing that hiding in some cowl....

Actually, going up the Cajon Pass grade would take as much as a couple of hours at 12 to 15 mph. At 3 to 4 AM the constant droning of the locomotive made it very difficult to stay awake.

No. It's actually short for railroad engineer. I just retired from 25 years of driving freight locomotives in the Southern California area. Up and down the Cajon pass every day.
