RE: 1st Jet Flight - Avonds Rafale

30% nitro??!! I dont' know if I can get this anywhere in the UK.

But I think turbine is the way ahead so I'll not spend a lot of effort in trying to sort the DF. I'm just glad to get the first...

RE: 1st Jet Flight - Avonds Rafale

Jesus,

I still have the original copy of RCJI that featured the Rafale (1993) - that's what made me choose the Rafale in the first place, even after 12 years since the article was produced. That...

RE: 1st Jet Flight - Avonds Rafale

You could be right mate - but the Magnum is one prop plane that I would keep. I doubt if any jet (even turbines) would beat the Magnum in a vertical climb. It takes about 10 seconds to get beyond...

RE: what aircraft would you like to see kitted?

In order of preference:

Tornado IDS or ADV (or both - and with operating wing sweep)
English Electric TSR.2
English Electric Lightning (I know Mick Reeves does one, but an ARF would be nice)...

RE: Approach Speed

Gents,

Thanks for your feedback. I'll be flying a UAV at >100 oz./sq. ft loading and an approach speed of around 50 mph (IAS) and was a bit worried. Your responses give me some encouragement.

Approach Speed

Gents,

Just wondering what is the highest approach speed (approximately) that can be comfortably and safely handled by a human pilot flying a largish jet (say similar to Y/A F-18 twin or large...

RE: Skymaster Rafale

I wish they'd taken a bit more time to make the planform more scale - or maybe just the foreplanes are too far forward? It just looks odd. Also, the canopy line could be much more scale. Maybe this...

RE: PPM, PCM ?

Gents,

For me, the issue is'nt to do with PPM versus PCM. I have once experienced complete lockout: i.e. a situation where a perfectly working system suddenly appears to die and all further...

RE: MagnumR question

Rudeboy,

Thanks for the feedback - just checked the Master airscrew site and, yes, I probably am exceeding their operating limits. Will change to APC prop & ally spinner ASAP. I've not yet...

MagnumR question

Hi guys,

I've just completed 4 flights on a MagnumR with the 50 West engine & tuned pipe.

I set up the CG at the prescribed distance from the "wing root" (as it says in the instructions)....

Avonds Rafale & MagnumR

Hi Guys,

I'm just putting the final touches to my Avonds Rafale. Since my experience was mainly fairly sedate helis and warbirds, I thought I'd better get used to high speed flight before...

Servo Question

Hi Guys,

I'm hoping someone can help with some advice on servos.

I bought two new, supposedly identical, servos as elevon actuators for an Avonds Rafale.

The problem is: the servo arm...

Woodvale UK - B-52 & Comet Pictures

Folks,

Just back from the Woodvale Rally in the UK. There were some incredible jets on display and I've attached some pictures of the DH Comet (already mentioned in a previous post) and some...

RE: F15 Receiver/servo power system

Hi Nick,

I read with interest the posts on opto-isolators. In my opinion, opto-isolators are a waste of time and money for this application. Their use will result in an overall reduction of the...

Radio Lock-Out

Hi Gents,

This is my first post to RC Universe, so please be gentle with me.

I'd just like to resurrect the radio lock-out thread that appeared some weeks back and add my 2 cents.

I...
