Replacement FG-36 Hall Sensor

I should clarify that it is not an RCEXL/CH Ignitions type Hall sensor. In order to use an RCEXL sensor the engine would need to be re-timed and the prop hub would require machining the proper...

Its very likely that all the neoprene parts, the metering diaphragm and the pump/check valve "gasket", are stiffened up from the exposure to gas and time. I have found these parts to last about 2-3...

I have a Saito FG-36 which I have had since 2007 in a Pac-Aero Gee Bee Y with many flights on it. I recently replaced the bearings and in test running discovered that the carb neoprene parts had...

RE: GAS Saito

Had another thought, (that's two in one night, I better slow down), could be the ignition is faulty and not auto-advancing. I have no idea what the advance amount is on these ignitions but it would...

RE: GAS Saito

I have an FG-36 I bought when they first came out, probably has a couple hundred flights on it. I could not get close to the rpm claimed which was 8500 on an 18 x 8 APC. I was using a standard blade...

RE: GAS Saito

Not a response as such, I have been running the FG-36 since it first came out on a 15 lb Pac Aero Model Gee Bee "Y". I have tried a number of different size and pitch APC props from 18 x 8 to 20 x...

To anyone looking for nitrate and/or butryate dope, these paints are still used in full-scale aircraft refinishing and I use them for fabric covered models. They can be obtained from Aircraft Spruce...

RE: GAS Saito

Inverted or right side, it makes no difference. All four cycle engines must have a system to eliminate pressure build up in the crankcase. Older cars had a breather tube down the side of the engine,...

RE: GAS Saito

Exactly Mike, normally you would just have a length of tubing from the breather nipple out the bottom of the cowl on any four-stroke in order to relieve the build up of blow-by pressure in the...

RE: GAS Saito

Mike.

I assume you're talking about the oil catch tank? The back plate breather nipple is connected to the tube that extends down into the bottom of the tank and has a short piece of tubing on...

RE: GAS Saito

Mike,

Since I had to empty the oil catch tank I shot few pics of the rocker box interconnect. Also a couple of the oil tank and plumbing. I'm not sure its doing much as there was very little oil...

RE: GAS Saito

Hi Mike,

I have never run the engine upright except for initial break-in (about an hour) so I don't know if this is an issue in that orientation. I did get a great deal of very black oil out the...

RE: GAS Saito

Hey Mike,

The oil is being drawn down the intake valve stem by the difference in pressure between the rocker box and the lower pressure in the combustion chamber on the intake stroke. It goes...

RE: GAS Saito

Hi All,

Just an update. A while back I mentioned that I was getting excess oil build-up in the exhaust rocker box of my inverted FG-36 installation and that I planned to fabricate a tubing...
