RE: YAK 54 TOC1

Lafus, I decided to go with longer arms (1.5"). I get full deflection now, and haven't noticed anything bad happening due to mechanics. Probably will never really need that much throw, but if it's...

RE: YAK 54 TOC1

I can't beleive what I saw in those pictures. That's the most irresponsible thing I've seen lately. I hope when you grow up you develop an understanding of what these people are trying to tell you...

RE: YAK 54 TOC1

Tripp, tank is in the tunnel. Landings are just as you describe. I prefer a little speed on landing and sort of fly it in. Smooth as silk. Prop, CG is dead on 6.5" and no differential dialed in...

RE: YAK 54 TOC1

Finally some decent weather. Only had 5-15mph crossing. I put a couple more flights on it; I'm liking it more and more each time I fly it! I took some vertical lines today, some full throttle...

RE: YAK 54 TOC1

Stang, I used a dark blue Monokote paint. Several thin coats on the inside, be careful, it runs easily on canopy plastic. When I"m almost to the darkness of the color I want, I shoot about 3 more...

RE: YAK 54 TOC1

Taggem, what engine do you plan on using on this one? I'm not positive, but I think DA is recommending 6.0 volt for their newer ignitions now. 2700 on your RX should be just fine. If you've read...

RE: YAK 54 TOC1

I got the canopy finished, and hopefully this will help. The flames have been removed on the turtle deck, and the Red Bull applied as on Kirby's. I like it!!

RE: YAK 54 TOC1

It contrasts real well in the sunlight, but overcast is a different story. Even with the graphics, a little ways out, and it becomes impossible to tell top from bottom[sm=bananahead.gif]. I've just...

RE: YAK 54 TOC1

Yea, Tripp, I got them on and they really look great! I'll put it on the bench (rain again) and take some today. They tie the scheme in perfectly. Hey, Jon, I have the same problem with the blue &...

RE: YAK 54 TOC1

Hey, not too bad yourself, PropStriker! It's my first Carden, and my first build of this magnitude. Sorry for hijacking the YAK thread, but I was hoping to sell some more graphics for the...

RE: YAK 54 TOC1

35-40mph today. I may be able to get a few new pics with everything completed. Big difference with flames and YAK removed. Really ties it all together. Long straight hemostats also work on...

RE: YAK 54 TOC1

Hey Propstriker, I went out to the shop and took a long look at that gear. I turned it around. Regardless of what the book says, it should be installed with the slope to the front, not the back. ...

RE: YAK 54 TOC1

RE: YAK 54 TOC1

I guess I don't know how to upload images. They are HUGE on my screen. Sorry, didn't mean to take up so much room. After I got back, I decided I didn't like the Chinacote "YAK" on the fuse, and...

RE: YAK 54 TOC1

Thought I'd give a heads up to anybody using the "BULL" graphics on their flame YAKS. These graphics are huge! Some things I've learned putting mine on; make sure you use a ton of the spray stuff...

RE: YAK 54 TOC1

A friend tried some Kavan tires instead of Dubro SkyLites. Turns out the Kavans weighed more!

RE: YAK 54 TOC1

No need to get personal PropStriker, and you have obviously been talking to my wife. She has the same opinion about my normalcy. Or lack of it! LOL!!!

RE: YAK 54 TOC1

Well, as a matter of fact, yes. I built three cars from scratch, or restored frame-up, 2 for myself, and one for my son. I built 3 of my houses from scratch, along with 26 others for profit, and as...

RE: YAK 54 TOC1

I know the feeling. I've a Carden Edge 35%er sitting in the corner of my shop with about 1/2" of dust on it. Now that the YAK is finished, maybe I'll get motivated again to finish it. Weather is...

RE: YAK 54 TOC1

Thanks, Jason. The more I thought about going to graphite, the more reasons I came up with not to, just yet. I'm not an expert pilot, and the flex from the aluminum might be better for the frame,...
