RE: Dynaflight Butterfly

Congratulations! Big wheels on smooth surface probably made an elegant takeoff. My attempts at ROG with standard wheels on grass were all nearly disastrous. Enjoy your Butterfly. Mine is in its...

RE: Dynaflight Butterfly

Regarding flying space, keep in mind this is a big plane. You'll want some sky. I have landed it with no problem on a small soccer field that was surrounded by open area. You're gonna love the...

RE: Dynaflight Butterfly

The best advice I can give, based on experience, is hand launch. Give it full throttle and let someone give it a toss straight ahead. Sometimes I launch it myself while holding the transmitter in...

RE: Dynaflight Butterfly

Two interesting Butterfly stories:

When I flew it as a demonstration for some elementary school students I nearly lost it. The school's flying field was an agricultural area across the road,...

RE: Dynaflight Butterfly

I have kept a Butterfly in the air for three years of flying under many kinds of conditions. I often turn to it as a change of pace. An OS .15 pulls it easily from a hand launch. Tends to ground...

RE: The Best Trainer

Don't overlook the Stick 40 Plus from Balsa USA. It is as ugly as they come, but flies beautifully. Tough as nails, it is my favorite aileron trainer.

RE: Suggestions about building a Spirit 100

I added carbon fiber to the spars as a little insurance and have never had any problem. With a histart, it probably isn't needed. The plan soars beautifully and has given long durations.

RE: The Best Trainer

No RC model I have ever touched flies as easily as a Dynaflite Butterfly. Handlaunched, it is big, slow and gentle. I have let small children fly mine without any sweat or struggle. It doesn't do...

RE: Great Planes Old Timer .40-Opinions?

The Old Timer is a fine model, a pleasure to build and to fly.

The greatest weakness I have discovered after many flights are the landing gear farings. The original lite ply soon broke as the...

RE: Airfoiler

If you get the MAN plans, do not cut the wing ribs as drawn. A spar is mislocated by an inch. I had to cut two sets of ribs for this one.

Be careful with wing incidence on the pylon. Mine...

RE: New Plans Posted for your Enjoyment

I built the enlarged Twin Lizzie RC from MAN plans. It presented some challenges, especially with the rudder control, but all were resolved.

The thing turned out on the heavy side and needed...

RE: Sig Mid Star 40 as second plane ???

The Mid-Star is an excellent design by Bruce Tharpe. Like all of his ideas, this one goes together well and flies like a dream. It is a little bit touchy for the inexperienced, but forgiving and...

RE: Looking for Cavalier plans

I built a Cavalier from AMA plans. It is the best flying 3 channel plane I have ever had my hands on. It is pure joy to fly. An old OS .40 LA is far more than enough power. I usually take off at...

RE: Balsa USA Stick Forty Plus

Here is a slightly bashed Stick 40 Plus.

It flies well.
