RE: Kyosho Spitfire and os 61 FSR

I have the older "original" Kyosho Spit, not sure it's the same as the new one they're selling?

I've got a Saito 82 in it. It flies really nice on it. Not too fast because I've got it propped...

RE: CX won't get out of ground effect?

Oh... now I did it.

I was checking the battery voltage under load with the blades on. Still good, 9.4V and it wouldn't lift off.

Then I went to check the voltage at the motor leads with...

CX won't get out of ground effect?

I got a CX and was doing really well with it, ran maybe 10 packs throught it. Had it outside and it crashed due to a little gust of wind or something. Broke my first upper hub. I rebuilt it, and...

RE: Does the Blade CP really fly?

Huh... I was actually going to get a Kyosho Caliber 30, but decided to save some money just in case I didn't like helicopters. I guess it was a mistake.

RE: Does the Blade CP really fly?

I did try a sim last year. I picked up the transmitter and was flying around no problem. I *get* how to control the helicopter. I just find it's so unstable, it's frustrating.

Does the Blade CP really fly?

I'm starting to think it's all a big lie, and the videos I've seen are convincing Hollywood fakes...

I've been driving RC cars, and flying RC planes for many years, so I have the control thing...

RE: ESM, YT, KMP ME 109E-4 finished and flying pics

How do you do the ducting?

When I'm modifying cars, I'll often use a lump of clay, and close the hood on it to figure out hood clearances for example. I would think one could put a lump of...

RE: ESM, YT, KMP ME 109E-4 finished and flying pics

Beautiful!

Just out of curiousity, how are you cooling the engine? I doesn't appear to have any of the typical engine cooling ducting one would expect to see. Nothting is hanging in the...

RE: Kyosho 109 first project

Did you paint yours or something?

I just started flying the Kyosho Spitfire, and it's a great airplane. Flies nice and easy. I would say if you are talented it would make a good "3rd plane"...

RE: Thunder Tiger Super Decathlon????

Yeah, but I don't need a gyro to prevent ground loop. ;)

RE: Thunder Tiger Super Decathlon????

Sorry, I don't think the new TT Decathlon can be beat. Two piece wing with a carbon fiber joiner tube. Airfoiled wing struts with moulded plastick endpieces, tail braces, wheel pants. The trim is...

RE: Great Planes Mechanical Retracts: Great!

Ok, flew the plane for it's first flight today. Everything went pretty well. I had a few niggly issues that are my fault because I rushed.

First, the wheels rotate on the legs because I didn't...

RE: Great Planes Mechanical Retracts: Great!

Couple Newbie questions:

The kit came with some flimsy plastic gear covers, that they show being installed only on fixed gear. Can I use gear covers on mechanical retracts? I would like to...

RE: Great Planes Mechanical Retracts: Great!

The mounting plates for the 60 size is exactly the same as the 40 size. I think the only difference might be the wire diameter? And it makes a certain amount of sense to use the heavier gear in a...

RE: Great Planes Mechanical Retracts: Great!

Richard, any other tips for setting it up? I know I'll need to tip them forward on the rails to move the wheels forward. Anything else, for use on grass? The wheels are smallish, 2.5" I think. ...

Great Planes Mechanical Retracts: Great!

At RichardL's suggestion, I bought some GP 60 size mechanical retracts from my Kyosho Spitfire ARF. I'm very impressed with them. I have never used retracts before, but I compared them to similarly...

JR Retract Servos don't turn 180?

I just bought a JR retract servo, don't know the number, it's the the one with 92 oz-in torque, IIRC.

I tested it out at home, and it doesn't move 180, it's more like 160-170 degrees.

Is...

RE: SE-5A Biplane 46 ARF

I have this plane, and power it with a new Saito 56 with a 13x5 prop. This combo flies well, more than scale power but not rediculous for a "sport scale" plane.

The kit itself... I have mixed...

RE: Spitfire MkVb spinner colour?

No, he definitely had a spitfire at one point. No doubt.

RE: Spitfire MkVb spinner colour?

Hmmm... this shows that his plane SHOULD have a sky band and spinner.

But mine has no sky band so... get a black spinner? Or a white...

RE: Spitfire MkVb spinner colour?

Interesting. This particular plane does not have a sky band, so maybe a black spinner is proper?

I'm sure I can find pictures of DB"s plane somewhere, and that would say for sure?

Huh......

Spitfire MkVb spinner colour?

Quick question: I've got a Kyosho Spitfire, which is modelled after Douglas Bader's MkV, which I believe is a B?

What colour should the spinner be? I though black was right, and was going to...

I'm also having a problem with service from Modeltech. I have the SE5a biplane, and am having a problem with the upper wing spars. They're balsa, and one of them fractured during a VERY light nose...

RE: New aerial video of my piper cub

How did you get the screen size to 720x480 out of that Aiptek? I just bought a 5900, and just trying to figure out how to get decent video out of it. What settings did you have on the camera?
