RE: LiPo Life

There is a problem though; you let your batteries away for a while and you will find that they degrade and inflate. so this idea that shelf life is long to me is just a lie, all of my bateries end up...

RE: Best way to find my CG??

If the wing planform is rectangular 1/4 to 1/3 back of the leading edge is O.K., but other planforms more complicated require some geometry calculations, but it might take you about the same trouble...

RE: Foam board question

Without paper is too soft you can even use it as fuselage cover,it shapes better than balsa.
With paper is too heavy.

I gave up using it, except for very small models.

All you can do is...

RE: Elmers Foam Board question

I have tried this, but it is much too soft, as a matter of fact I rather use it as a fuselage cover since it takes the curves perfect.

If there is no other material on hand go on, but you will...

RE: Pink Foamies!

I have made my own sheets of pink foam in 3 and 6 mm, cutting with hot wire.
It is very good material and comes much cheaper than depron, only drawback is the color.

RE: Added Ailerons. What Should the Throw Be???

I would say that adverse yaw is important in high apsect ratios like gliders.

I always use 10° deflections for all surfaces and works alright. How I mesasure it? I made a template in balsa wood...

RE: Removing Paper from Foam Board

I do that exactly, but what I don't like is that the peeled material is extremely soft and flexible, I better use it as a cover material instead of balsa sheet.

Of course is is one of the...

RE: Charging Lipos inside the airplane. Who does?

I prepare four different models, each one complete with receiver, battery and speed control; I fly one and start charging it soon as it lands and go to the next model, on so on. I always charge them...

RE: To Cut or not to cut, that is the question!

Only if you want the ultracoat to see through. Some like it so it will be translucent in the sun, otherwise, just leave it, the gain in waight is minimum.

RE: esing profile pusher jets

But you will say how can I measure those 10°.

Well, you must make your own jig with a protractor, it will be useful for any other model: use 5° for very fast models, 10° for sport flying and...

RE: esing profile pusher jets

My friend I recommend to hold the battery as in this photograph of Albatros L59, gives you chance to balance lateraly.

Also insert a 1/4" nail at the nose to strengthen it and give more forward...

RE: esing profile pusher jets

Beautiful Luis

A little overdone but it is fine.

The carbon rod should be installed before applying the lower vynil, so it is hidden.

Elevons could be managed with simple wire as in...

RE: Securing Fan Unit to Foam

Yeah, white is best, as a matter of fact I use it to stick parts to the wall rather than nails or screws. Tranparent is more flexible.

I know what it feels having a model you know you cannot handle and put it away waiting for some day to learn enough to fly it.

I would recommend to start with an easier model but since you have...

RE: HAND LAUNCHING JETS

I learned the hard way but finally came to the best procedure:

Hold the model from above and a little ahead of the c.g. so it hangs pointing up.

Hold it on to your side

Flex your knees...
