RE: Can Anyone Identify This Plane?

AMA did not always track numbers, and lost a bunch of records when they moved from Reston, VA to Muncie, IN. Unless you're a life member, your number doesn't always stay with you. If you drop out...

RE: scale civil aircraft kits?

Jack Stafford Models may do another limited run of their Piper Comanche and Mooney Ovation kits. Check with OldScaleGuy on here.

RE: Jack Stafford Models Announcement

I'd like to buy the single-engined Comanche when/if it becomes available.

RE: Question regarding the new CS .061 RC engine

Isn't 10% nitro awfully low for an over-cooled 1/2A engine? I'd think that more nitro would lessen the over-rich situation since it burns at such a low air/fuel ratio. Am I not thinking right?

RE: Bending / Forming plastic windshields

I only build small models, so soda pop bottles heat shrunk over a form is my way.

RE: Anyone heard of 1/2A ducted fans?

Berkeley Models sold a whole series of 1/2A ducted fan kits back in the 1950s. The plans showed a pull cord starter equipped McCoy or Wen Mac engine, or a Cox Thermal Hopper, and a bent piece of...

RE: AMA # ON WING

My AMA number's on my car's license plate - does that count?:D I haven't put it in large size on a plane for quite a while, but, per the rules, it's on a sticker along with my name, address, and...

RE: "Push me - pull you props on one motor?

Uhhh, Jim, I've been sniffing CA fumes all day, so don't have a clue what the "AB thread is!" I asked this question in the "Ask Sal" thread earlier today - will see what Sailplane Sal sez... I...

"Push me - pull you props on one motor?

Hi, Sal,

I recently got lured into buying an AXI 2208-26 from you thanks to one of your ads right here on RCU. (The bit about "the wife's gonna kill me if I don't move 'em out" worked!) After...

RE: OK Cub: Any good?

I may have to get one too! I seem to recall they were either built by Fox or Johnson. I remember Fox selling a somewhat similar .09 or thereabouts. Even when new the sideport intake was "old...

RE: OK Cub: Any good?

Thanks, Robert. Maybe they've got the parts I need to fix an old Cub I've had for about a zillion years!

RE: OK Cub: Any good?

Nobody's mentioned whether OK Cubs are still available. I see they still have a website, but it's two years out of date. Can you still buy one?

RE: If I buy a gun, I don't have to join the NRA to shoot it

I'm not at all amazed. The guy who taught me everything I know about ducted fans is one of them. Ex-Skunk Works, Ex-NASA, now designs RPVs, and flies R/C and rockets with his wife and kids.

As...

RE: If I buy a gun, I don't have to join the NRA to shoot it

It occurs to me that the US government sees the connection between the sport/hobby of model aircraft building and flying and the development of military weapons. Recently our local Air National...

RE: If I buy a gun, I don't have to join the NRA to shoot it

Good grief, I try to have a bit of fun with Teookie and I get shot at! Sounds as if more than one person needs more fiber!

On topic now, I don't care for the hegemony/dynasty of the AMA, but...

RE: If I buy a gun, I don't have to join the NRA to shoot it

I have a solution to Teookie's problem: The Oregon State nuthouse lies between Center Street and a HUGE lawn. (IOW, it's waaaay off Center!) Teookie can fly there! If anyone says he's crazy to fly...

RE: Profile Ring Master for RC?

Isn't the right wing shorter than the left one? All the C/L planes I've had were built that way, with a bit of lead in the right wing to boot. It might fly a bit funny as an R/C.

Am I blind? I can't find ANY TD engines, no Baby Bees, or anything except the engine they stick in their plastic U-control planes. What on earth has happened to Cox!?!?

Also, is Norvel gone? ...

RE: Cox glow heads

Thanks, Andrew! I can see where the Ofna plug would be easier to adapt to little engines than the Nelson, but I still don't see anything remotely resembling a turbine, so the "turbo" designation...

RE: Cox glow heads

Thanks for the info, Tim! I haven't played with 1/2A stuff in many years, but since spending 45 minutes and $5.00 in gas to get to the "local" field is getting pretty old, I think I'll try it again....
