Slow stick carbon fibre fuselage?

All,

After shortening my aluminum fuse a few times, I began wondering if anyone makes a composite 1 cm square fuse for the slow stick.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

RE: Can a Slowstick be setup for direct drive?

I wouldn't try it with the stock motor. If you've flown enough with the stock can 400 motor, switch to a small outrunner for some real fun. Try a small Typhoon outrunner and a Cobri stick engine...

RE: Slow Stick flight analysis

The motor mount that I currently have installed is relatively flimsey and bends when I slap the plane into a bulkhead, deck or any other hard object. I just take a pair of pliers and gently twist it...

RE: Slow Stick flight analysis

Epoxy,

Appreciate the reply. I'll try a little more adjustment with the fore/aft position of the wing then shim the trailing edge and see what effect that has. I can apply down thrust (motor...

Slow Stick flight analysis

All,

I'm flying my SS inside the hangar bay of my ship. I've reduced control throws to minimize "over-sticking". The plane seems to want to climb when I apply too much power. The battery is...

RE: Connectors on Himax brushless motors....

Thanks Matt,

Just got finished flying around the ship's hangar bay. Still gettin' the feel for the plane and balancing it. No loops or crazy stuff yet. There aren't any hobby stores for many,...

RE: Huge camera on a Slow Stick; 1st AP attempt

Markd23,

Appreciate the reply. I'm deployed on a ship right now and plan on balancing my SS and flying in the ship's hangar bay. I'll have to be careful as there is nothing soft onboard ship. ...

Connectors on Himax brushless motors....

Gents,

Just bought a Himax 2025-5300/cobri gear drive combo. I intend on installing it on a Slow Stick. The motor came with connectors soldered to the 3 leads. What are these things called? ...

RE: Huge camera on a Slow Stick; 1st AP attempt

Dude,

What is the weight of the camera? I'm trying to find something reasonably priced (5 mega-pixel) in about the 4-5 oz weight range. I've just purchased a Himax 2025-5300, but haven't...

RE: Calculating theoretical vice actual power

DOH! I really didn't bother doing a google search on it either. Thanks Matt. I'm torn between buying a moto calc or a watt meter. Having documented performance in hand (watt meter) is reality and...

RE: Calculating theoretical vice actual power

PKH,

Where do I find a copy of the program "motocalc?"

Thanks,

RE: Calculating theoretical vice actual power

Matt and Flypaper,

Appreciate the responses. I suppose that I'll bite the bullet and buy a Wattmeter. I'm really curious as to how prop size/pitch will load the motor/esc/battery. I'm also a...

Calculating theoretical vice actual power

Folks,

Jeff here. Relatively new to the scene, but I'm on my 3rd Slow Stick (brushless) and have a question regarding determining the power output of my planes motor/battery combo. I'm using a...

RE: soldering battery packs

Strive to achieve a 2 second solder melt. This will minimize damage to the cell due to overheating. Cleanliness during all steps is paramount to a high quality solder joint. This is really not a...

RE: Yard stick sux, Slow stick rocks!

Yeah,

You're right. I have the motor brake set, and if I lose control, I shut the throttle and recover. It's not really directly over; I'm just kinda buzzing around....

Cheers,

Jeff

RE: Yard stick sux, Slow stick rocks!

Time Pilot,

I've switched to a prop saver and shifted to a 10x47 APC brand prop. I've also learned to balance the plane better and use more controlled stick inputs. I'm getting about 10...

RE: Slow Stick Repairs

Thanks for the tip, Steve. I was thinking that hot glue was some special foam safe glue, that I'd never heard of before.

Yard stick sux, Slow stick rocks!

Could not get the Yard Stick to fly and had several problems with small plastic pieces breaking. Bought the Slow Stick yesterday. There is no comparison between these planes. Very crash worthy. I...
