If you want to add additional strength in AFT fuse area, you might what to consider opening the bottom of your fuse, and place a few light plies of fiberglass with light weight fiberglass...

In regards to your throttle set-up, I have used a similar set-up in my Zenoah gas power hydroplane. As a matter of fact, what you described is a common throttle linkage set-up for gas powered boats....
