cold effecting starting?

bought a new coz black widow off ebay an dit wil start a bt then die, i am thinking it is because of the cold, it is about 30-40. i am useing a 2 d batteries to start it.

is this a problem?

how mush do these thing need to move, my plan has like a 45 inch weing span and the fin is like 6-7 inches long, if this helps. it is an ace wizard.
