Go to a refrigeration place one that makes cool rooms for business. They should be able to help you. I get 8' by 4' by 3" cover sheets for free.

I fly mine with a Saito 65 swinging a 13,6 APC I find this to be a great combination for scale like flying but if you are after good vertical performance then I would suggest looking at the Saito 82....

OK here is how I fixed the weight issues with this plane withe the engine cowl and an aluminum spinner it balances on the recommended points.

Yep the 61 fx would fit in just fine the main reason for wanting to use the 46 is that I already have two of them sitting on the bench without a home

I use 3mm laminate for my templates and find that this works great. You can cut it with a fine band saw or scroll saw and then file or sand the edges smooth with no need to run over...
