RE: ESM 50cc Corsair

Love my esm corsair. Haven't flown or owned a byron one so hard to compare. You will probably find that those that can afford a byron model won't botherwwith an esm model, so may be hard to get a...

RE: ESM 50cc Corsair

Chaps, I use the same method. Hobbyking gear door hinges and a magnet to keep it closed. Fingernail to open.

I have added the weight I needed to the inside of the cowel right at the front using...

RE: ESM 50cc Corsair

Dammit! Bloody prop driver broke again! Arrggghhh! And then the cam belt on my car snapped. Not a great day..... God knows what I'm gonna do about the prop driver. Epoxy it on?

RE: ESM 50cc Corsair

Yep, Ron has the right idea. In another 5 years you will be hard pressed to even buy air retracts. they will all be electric. So much easier!
ESM is offering electric versions for theirs but I...

RE: ESM 50cc Corsair

Yep, although I have had sterling service from my ESM retracts, they did require major modification. The Robart ones sound way better. Both require work of some sort.
I do like the chunky look of...

RE: ESM 50cc Corsair

Nice work! Gonna have to do my exhausts like that too. Silver solder will solve the melting problem - gasser exhaust runs way hotter than glow.

Still haven't done the weathering to the bottom...

RE: ESM 50cc Corsair

RE: ESM 50cc Corsair

Still haven't got to the bottom yet. A bloody Spitfire has got in the way [:-] Somehow the year has slipped by without me noticing! ???? Trying to get the Spit out of here in the next couple of weeks...

RE: ESM P-40 build

So true! I am a fairly vocal critic of ESM warbirds, not because I feel ripped off or expect them to be an "out of the box" ARF, but because I feel they could do so much better for such a small extra...

RE: ESM P-40 build

A gyro on the rudder will help with takeoffs. These planes swing like a b@#ch on takeoff if you don't catch it early.

RE: ESM 50cc Corsair

Yep, the ESM hinges are made from cheese, and a soft one at that..! If you cant find circuit board or fiberglass sheet (hobbyking has it) then ply will work fine. Soak it in CA and its as strong as...

RE: ESM 50cc Corsair

Very Cool! But how does it stop the retracts from being operated on the ground?

RE: ESM 50cc Corsair

Same channel for all 4 servos. The trick is to bend a "V" into each push rod so you can adjust how far each door closes precisely by opening or closing the "V". This also gives you a little spring...

RE: ESM 50cc Corsair

Yep, its the equasion of deminishing returns. I regularly fly with a couple of 80 in P47's with DA50's in them. The corsair isnt a lot faster until you point the nose up, then it just keeps boring a...

RE: ESM 50cc Corsair

Well, as I seemed to have issues getting my finger pulled out far enough to order the williams bros radial, I figured I would try to make the stock kit one useable. Long weekend with rain so why not?...

RE: ESM 50cc Corsair

Bruce, yep we have the wet and wild weather at the moment. Typical spring! Getting warmer and daylight saving has started so it light until 8pm. Thursday night flying will kick off this week too....

RE: ESM 50cc Corsair

Tony, yep if the cans from the 111 fit in then the ones from the 75 should fit easily.

Tone, you may be right, but I do find it a shame that ESM don't spend a little more time and care with...
