RE: Building a DraganFlyer - need to mix speedcontrollers - HELP

ADI,

Make any progress? I was just doing some google searching and ran across this thread again :)

Although I'm doing OK financially, my small business plans seem to have taken a turn for...

RE: Building a DraganFlyer - need to mix speedcontrollers - HELP

danvel,

Really nice videos! I've wanted to play with the balancing stuff, but haven't got to it yet. Looks like you have made some really good progress. Look forward to the one wheel...

RE: Building a DraganFlyer - need to mix speedcontrollers - HELP

Hi danvel,
hope things are going good with you.
I don't think this vehicle is actually a weapon. I think it "tracks" a missile with a camera and/or other sensors and sends coordinates to an...

RE: Building a DraganFlyer - need to mix speedcontrollers - HELP

I know this is a bit off-topic, but this thing is too cool. I know all the 4 rotor guys in this group will appreciate it. It is a pulse jet military "kill vehicle" for missile interception from...

RE: Building a DraganFlyer - need to mix speedcontrollers - HELP

Hi Guys,
I haven't looked at this thread for a long time. Good to see it is still going. I'm planning on getting back to the 4 rotor stuff here soon. I want to try a new approach for the...

RE: Building a DraganFlyer - need to mix speedcontrollers - HELP

Hi targit,

That is definitely part of my new plan. I'm not thinking of controlling the whole camera with a servo for image correction, but possibly real-time gyro/accelerometer driven...

RE: Building a DraganFlyer - need to mix speedcontrollers - HELP

Da-Winged,

I say go for it. I think it is time to start evolving this concept. It is refreshing to have someone else in here with the goal of a stable platform for fixed position imagery. ...

RE: Building a DraganFlyer - need to mix speedcontrollers - HELP

Hi ADI,

I intended to use pillowblock bearing assemblies, but I accidentally ordered linear bearings... So I decided to try using the shaft collars. I had to grind them just a little to get...

RE: Building a DraganFlyer - need to mix speedcontrollers - HELP

I really need to get a better camera, but here is what I've been working on this week. Still working on the controller.
Initial testing seems like this is going to be a pretty good way to go. ...

RE: Building a DraganFlyer - need to mix speedcontrollers - HELP

Pretty neat observation Danvel... I'm working on a new design with 6 active elements right now. I hadn't really thought of it that way before. Nice videos!

RE: Building a DraganFlyer - need to mix speedcontrollers - HELP

ADI,
hope that wasn't because of the videos. Danvel sent me one of the videos via e-mail. That wing is pretty cool!

I can host your website under handfordsite.com if you like. Something...

RE: Building a DraganFlyer - need to mix speedcontrollers - HELP

Yeah... i guess :), but I can play just about any other video format. Why can't google stick to the standards and previous non-standards? I'll check and see if mplayer supports it yet.... I...

RE: Building a DraganFlyer - need to mix speedcontrollers - HELP

I don't have the right plug-in to watch the google video thing for danvel's videos. I'll see if I can figure it out this weekend. I did check out Bizart's winter video.. very nice!

I finally...

RE: Building a DraganFlyer - need to mix speedcontrollers - HELP

No, but I also believe the Phoenix controllers will work. I still need to order 3 more of them. I was aware of the effect of disabling the soft start because I had asked them about the response...

RE: Building a DraganFlyer - need to mix speedcontrollers - HELP

ADI,
I guess I don't understand why you see fixed point as being so different than ieee 754 floating point? They are both used to represent our base 10 system in binary. The main difference...

RE: Building a DraganFlyer - need to mix speedcontrollers - HELP

I guess the main tradeoff for 32 bit fixed point vs 32 bit floating point is range and accuracy.. For a PID, fixed point would work fine. For calculations with really small or really large...

RE: Building a DraganFlyer - need to mix speedcontrollers - HELP

OK, I understand what you are saying, but my point is that I could write some code to do this without actually counting clock cycles that a section of code takes to execute. I understand what you...

Thanks for taking the time to post your algorithm. I will try to implement this in C as I said. Have a couple of other things to do first. I do have a few replies to your comments......

RE: Building a DraganFlyer - need to mix speedcontrollers - HELP

I understand your original point, I just don't agree with it :) My productivity has gone up at least 10x since I switched to C on embedded stuff. I have spent about 2 minutes, now...

I don't know why, but I was thinking about the memtest thing again and remembered a C directive that I rarely use: register

Here is the improved code. register forces...
