RE: Best scale photo!

The raw image right out of the camera is 8MB. Once processed into a Tiff image it grows to 23MB with an original print size of about 9X12. I can adjust the file and print size as needed without...

RE: Best scale photo!

Thanks Vern for the suggestion, I’ll give it a try.

Blue sky and soft clouds are the only background to this image. The main subject (Focke Wulf 190) is in focus and the sharpness draws the...

RE: Best scale photo!

Maybe this angle is more acceptable.

Athough I do like tight closeups.

RE: Best scale photo!

As we may suspect, flying jets with their high g-forces and lightning quick speed can take a lot out of you.

Another female pilot at Florida Jets looks like she has had a full flight schedule.

RE: Best scale photo!

Pilots add that extra level of detail.

The best part, they never complain and are always ready to fly.

This pilot was seen at Florida Jets in March of 08.

I call her "Pistol Packin...

RE: Hangar 9 40 Size Piper Pawnee!!!

I have been following this thread to learn more about the Hangar 9 Piper Pawnee. There are lots of good suggestions and I have used a few myself.

Flying Models Magazine has a review on this kit...

RE: Best scale photo!

I was digging through some old stuff and came up with this.

From the 2000 Scale Masters in Dayton Ohio, Roy Vaillancourt with his scratch built Hawker Typhoon is ready for takeoff below left and...

RE: Best scale photo!

Ok, maybe I can help with a photo.

Eric Karl seems to be showing the underside of his 1/7 scale Panther F9F at the wrong time.

RE: Best scale photo!

The gear on that Hornet is unbelievable and the photos really have me stumped as to full scale or model. Very impressive.

Can you explain what your landing gear detail project is all about?

RE: Best scale photo!

One hundred pages is quite a milestone. Thanks go to “Mustang 51” for getting it going and all the modelers who have shared their photos.

On the left is Dave Johnson with his scratch built...

RE: Best scale photo!

Dewey Davenport on taxi with his 1/7 scale F-18 Hornet.

I’m a bit too high with the camera; I would have preferred a lower shot.

I wish there was more heat signature in the rear, but you...

RE: Best scale photo!

This photo caught my eye due to the angle and composition.

Sure, there are a lot of “issues” to mention, but the subject matter draws the eye.

The background is nothing but sky with...

I wish I could take credit for this one but Palmer Johnson captured this shot of a Fockwulf 190A at Top Gun 2007.

Not everyone has access to Top Gun type aircraft, so they take photos of what...

Outstanding work on the S.E.5a. Control line only makes it better. Wonderful lighting.

RE: Best scale photo!

Uncljoe,

Very nice work. Some of the jets are so sharp it looks like a prime lens instead of a zoom.

I was thinking of a big prime lens but I couldn't get a third mortgage.

Uncljoe,

Were you at the Florida Jets 07 event in Lakeland Florida? Great shots.

Were you flying a Jet also?

RE: Best scale photo!

I have been fortunate to see Graeme Mears craftsmanship up close and in person. Graeme is truly an artist in scale models.

RE: Best scale photo!

UNCLJOE,

Some very serious jet aircraft. How close are you to the jets shooting at 300mm, they look close? One more question, what shutter speed was used in the flight photos?

It’s a...

What size Jpeg file do you want? I can make it large (8X10 size print) if you want, could be 2MB file size if that's ok. Let me know where to email and I'll send it on its way.

RE: Best scale photo!

I like the angle (from the rear) of the BUSA DVII. I suspect many ground crews witnessed this exact view during the time the full scale aircraft was operational.

RE: Best scale photo!

Thank you to all. Of course the hundreds of shots that are out of focus, at the wrong angle, or with human giants in the way, are discarded.
