Try use a digital meter and check the continuity of your antenna wire on the rx. There might be some cracked solder joints on the antenna wire.

Make sure the two little dip switches on the gyro are on the left. As for the GAIN pot, turning it clockwise would increase the head of the heli yaws to the right.

Why don't you get a barebone #35 kit and install your own ECS, gyro, receiver and etc if you don't want the original electronics.
