a savage 4.6 SS tranny is all hardend steel gears..( i think...) anyways they are metal, not nylon, and are very stout..

if u do a search on ebay u can get just a tranny for 20$. recently bought one friday. i hope it gets here soon. from what i hear you shouldnt have to worry about stripping gears with that...
