RE: Twisted

Thanks for the interest! Today is warm and mild-but rainy. It’s still a possibility for the maiden flight–or perhaps tomorrow. One thing I wish was done differently was to use two carbon shafts...

Twisted

The wing, stabilizer and elevator are from a H9 Twist that flew for 3 seasons. The only thing wrong with the Twist was that the fuselage kept breaking from harder than average landings and tail...

RE: Prop Bitten

SoCalSal,
If that looks like a booger to you, it must have made you hungry.
I’ll save it for ya.
Also, it happens to be my middle finger – so that's for you too!

RE: Prop Bitten

This one was CA'd at the field a few minutes after it happened. Just a small distraction and the left middle finger was into the arc of an APC prop on an ST45 engine. I was lucky. Two friends glued...

RE: The Tango 40 ARF from Hangar 9

For what it's worth, purchasers of new Tangos may want to check the hardwood wing dowels to be sure they are properly glued. Mine weren't. When assembled for the maiden, the tight fit caused one...

RE: Please Help ID this Military Model - Need CG Location also

Thanks for the info, SDM. Can't find a CG location but I think it's in the ballpark with no extra weight added and I still plan to fly it tommorrow. Someone painted the canopy black from the inside,...

Please Help ID this Military Model - Need CG Location also

Hopefully someone has seen this kit or the plans. The guy who gave it to me said it was a Texan but after looking at a few AT-6 images closely; there are a lot of differences. This one has rounder...

RE: glider vs. hawk at Lazy Loopers

Wanna really drive the birds nuts? Get one of those R/C foamy dragonfly ornithopters like they sell at Radio Shack. Every evening at the field, a few barn swallows strafe the runway for bugs. None of...

Iron-On Album Art

If anyone here has tried this, let’s see your results. Here’s my just-finished wicked, sick and twisted trainer. It speaks to my Dark Side. Thought about doing a theme model, then thought that it...

RE: What people buy sticks ?

IAMKAOS - yep, the ST45 is probably one the last to be made in Italy. Haven't flown it as much as I should but it seems to be a a real strong engine with a cool-sounding muffler.

And opjose, if...

RE: What people buy sticks ?

Not an ARF but here's mine. My dad built this Midwest Sweet Stik back in the early or mid '70s. All original monkote. Was never flown until 3 seasons ago. The engine in the picture is a crummy K&B...

RE: DRATS! I just HATE it when HE's Right!!!

Of course he’s right. Anyone who applies a little common sense and courtesy won’t be wrong. Likewise, give the stubborn, bickering long-timers a break. People are just people. They will come...

RE: Any Giant Scale Aerobatic Pilots in Central PA?

Great news Bubbagates. Thanks for the response and thanks for helping. For now, lets plan on it and I'll PM you by the middle of next week - after the next meeting. I'll also bring up adding a spot...

Any Giant Scale Aerobatic Pilots in Central PA?

I’m secretary of the State College Radio Control Club and a committee member for planning this year’s SCRC Air Show scheduled for Sunday, August 19th. One of the assignments is finding a flyer...

RE: Drilling out the holes in servo arms

Duh, I've used the cut pushrod to drill before and just forgot. Thanks, Clean for the reminder. I'll give that another shot. I suspected that forcing the z-bend into the arm holes enlarges the hole....

Drilling out the holes in servo arms

Did you ever drill out the 1/16” hole in a servo arm with a 5/64” drill only to find that your z-bend or L-bend is a sloppy fit? It’s a simple thing but I’ve been doing a lot of it lately...

RE: Best way to remove prop driver?

Proptop,
Without the bearings installed, the crank journal seems fine and turns freely in it's bore. With the bearings, it binds so I suspect a twist in the weak, ported area of the crank-or even...

RE: Best way to remove prop driver?

Thanks again for the tips-all good suggestions. The goods news is that the disassembly was quick and easy with no special tools. The bad news is that the engine is lunched. It needs a new crank, a...

RE: Best way to remove prop driver?

Thanks for the tips guys. Battery terminal puller is a great idea. I may be able to mooch one. I hope it’s the rod-and the crank is good, but at first glance, everything looks OK from the top and...

Best way to remove prop driver?

The aluminum prop driver hub is locked on with a split cone and this one’s really on there. I don’t want to damage or distort it. I guess the best way to remove it would be a with a gear puller,...

RE: Andrews Trainmaster

This Trainermaster only cost me five bucks but I had to re-build it. With all the monokote peeling I did, I don't feel that it was much easier or quicker than building from a kit! I got it last Fall...
