Voltage limits on brushless motors.

If I use a 10 cell lipo on a brushless motor rated for up to 8 cells,
is the problem with doing that, the extra power or is there circuitry
in the motor that won't operate properly? I thought...

On the 1.20, Ive ran 16x4w, 16x6, and 17x6w, for 3d flying. I prefer the 17x6w, but I had to run 30% nitro to get the performance I wanted.

I do use a watt meter every time I change props. My esc also logs data and I review that on my pc as well. I try to do everything I can to not destroy my equipment.
