I wonder if it allows you to still use the slipper clutch. The T-Maxx three speed eliminates the slipper clutch and is recommended for on-road use only.

If I'm not mistaken the HPI dirtbonz are a soft compound? If so that's probably your problem. When using beadlocks and tires with softer compounds you need to run the "rage rings" that maximizer...

The linkages on the new 2.5's are different. They will have a bellcrank for the throttle and the older t-maxx's don't. Also, the older t-maxx's are a lot narrower than the new 2.5 t-maxx's.

Yes, a cordless drill will work fine. Be sure that it has torque adjustability so you don't snap the OWB.
