Hopefully today’s wind back in Qld is a step closer to flying for you guys up there. Have to settle for annoying the neighbours with running-in down here in Vic. 😁
Just finished installing...

Running in

Well, after a false start due to test stand letting go, I finally began running in my engine. It has MMM timing and inlet mods, standard exhausts for now, and used KLOTZ at 25:1 (despite claims the...

Wow - 32:1 on break in? Will definitely be lubing thoroughly and watching closely if I do that!

Whilst the older pistons/cylinders are a concern, a couple of my flying buddies have run this engine...

I’m curious what people suggest for break in fuel mix, in my situation:

I have an earlier FG60R3 without the modified cylinders, that’s still unrun but a few years old so presumably out of...

Hi guys, thanks for the input re weight. I'm pretty conscious of keeping all my installation well forward (except those elevator servos!) - plus it has a Saito FG60R3 with Keleo exhaust ready to drop...

The other reason this elevator problem likely occurs with this aircraft, is that the hinge line for the elevator drive wire is set into the tailplane trailing edge, whilst the actual elevator hinge...

Elevator flutter

For anyone interested/concerned about elevator flutter on this plane, I believe I've come across a major contributing factor.

I've stripped the covering off mine and removed all the hinge points...

RE: BIRD OF TIME - POWER CONVERSION

Pretty sure there's a law against doing that to a BoT wing...;)

Did those flaps do anything useful?

Cheers,

RE: PCM 9XII (9303?) Screen Problem

:) Thanks Alan, it was that after all! Funny, I never knew it was there, and couldn't find in manual....

I'm off to have a slice of humble pie.

RE: PCM 9XII (9303?) Screen Problem

Can't see any contrast adjustment facility on this radio - but yeah, that's sort of the effect. When I switch it on, it looks fine for around 0.5s and then darkens, so screen figures barely visible...

PCM 9XII (9303?) Screen Problem

After being switched off for maybe 4 months, I powered up my 9xII the other day and the screen was very dark. Replaced battery to no effect. It appears the greenish background on the LCD screen has...

RE: DynaFlite Kit: Bird of Time

You'll see the size/position of mine in my earlier post -...

RE: Recommend my first DLG

Yeah, it's all there.

Basically, by "bagged" I mean foam cores with composite (fibreglass/carbon/kevlar or combos) skins applied with resin under vacuum in a vac bag. This produces very light...

RE: Recommend my first DLG

Alot of the hollow wing DLG's can be fragile according to some owners - have you looked at the bagged foam models?
Easier to repair and less fragile in general.

See Tim's build early in the thread for rivet technique on Monocote - used "Rosie the Riveter" system.

RE: Top Flite B-25 ARF (Tecnical, tips, suggestions)

It would be nice. Especially when you consider all the mods we (well, some of us!) make like bomb bay, cutting up gear doors, wing lights, rivets etc, it would be alot easier to end up with a nice...

RE: Top Flite B-25 ARF (Tecnical, tips, suggestions)

Hey, that's the ARC version I want - not fair!:(

C'mon Tim, I'd love to do another with 3/4 oz glass and panels/paint. Any chance they'll change their minds?
