RE: Official HPI MT2 Thread

If you want to use gearing like that, you'll have to get the 0s 18 cv-rx engine.
You could tell the wife: Oh, the gearing is unsuitable for this engine, i'll have to get a different one! :D:D:D

RE: Official HPI MT2 Thread

Get a savage, you won't kill it with 5-10ft jumps (on grass!). You'll bend the roll bar if you land upside down, maybe bust a lower arm if you land sideways, but thats it.

RE: Official HPI MT2 Thread

And with a os .18 cv-rx? GPM is crap, but it'll do just fine for the MT2, and is well recommended for the savage diffs.

RE: Official HPI MT2 Thread

Use an alloy diff case in the rear, such as GPM, but use the standard plastic cup, and of course buy hardened gears.

RE: Official HPI MT2 Thread

55 oil in such a small shock is just silly. It will break the shaft, or the seal on a heavy landing.... Buy the harder springs and use 35 - 40wt out, the cost is not that much.

RE: Official HPI MT2 Thread

On the shocks option, what springs / oil combination do you guys use for on road racing for the front/rear?

RE: Official HPI MT2 Thread

No, 55 would be too stiff and would probably break shock shafts if you hit a bump. Buy stiffer springs instaed, and use 40wt for a nice stiff ride.

RE: Official HPI MT2 Thread

you cant fill your diff with oil - there is no gasket on the diffs for the MT2.

Use the HPI springs instead.

RE: Official HPI MT2 Thread

Trouble is you get condensation inside the balloon and the receiver still gets wet. Plastic dip is a good idea, or seal the receiver inside the receiver box using plastic dip maybe?

RE: Official HPI MT2 Thread

Why would you want to do that? The OS 18 TZ engine (almost a direct replacement for the factory engine) has enough power to destroy the truck on its own. Any more will be uncontrollable hence...
