RE: Where can I find specs for old ASP .61?

In looking for a manual, I've found several sources claiming ASP is essentially the same engine as Magnum. I'm not sure if that is true, but if it is, the Magnum XLS 61A manual might help you out....

RE: Where can I find specs for old ASP .61?

Not sure about a manual, but a few of the specs can be found here on RCU under the user review page:

RE: Pusher Props for Electrics

That is all I have ever done with my single-engine models; however, several guys in my club have twins, and they use a pusher prop on one motor and a "puller" prop on the other. Their reason for...

RE: Another PC Power Supply Question

Thanks for your replies. I'll start with 10 ohms and drop down from there. The power supply is rated at 200W and states on the label the +12V can deliver 8A; however, when I try to charge a 3S lipo...

Another PC Power Supply Question

I have a question I was hoping an EE or other electronics expert could help me with. A recently converted a "new-style" AT power supply (one with a push switch) for RC use. It works fine for charging...

RE: Servo specs?

Something else to consider is the amount of travel required. A pattern aircraft doesn’t need the extreme throws that a 3D aircraft would. A long servo arm is usually needed in order to achieve...

RE: Please help out one arm club member

I seem to remember coming across someone who wired a foot pedal to the throttle input of the transmitter. I think he bought a potentiometer from radio shack, mounted it on the pedal, and soldered it...

RE: Acrobatic manouver "plans"

Try the IMAC homepage: http://www.mini-iac.com/DesktopDefault.aspx

Look on the left side of the screen for "2008 Sequences." There will be links to PDF files you can print. You'll probably want...

RE: Tachometers

I haven't come across a tach as your describing, but I have a suggestion as a last resort. You may be able to adjust them by ear, similar to a piano tuner. Listen for a pulsing in the sound of the...

RE: convert inchs to degrees please help

Nicely described, bkdavy.

Actually, if you want to convert inches to degrees, I think you'll want to do exactly what bkdavy said - but backwards. Start with the deflection distance and divide it...

RE: Airplane Parts

They're a little expensive, but you might try Stan's Fibertech.

RE: Balancing

You might also take a look at your elevator and make sure it's not warped, or, if you have dual elevator halves, make sure they are moving equally.
Does the plane always roll in the same direction...

RE: One question.

I like this one:

It's great if you haven't done any CAD drawing before because it includes step-by-step tutorials.

RE: Why can't you use electric props on glow engines?

Another consideration would be weight. As I understand it, a propeller acts like a flywheel on an engine. An electric prop has far less mass and would probably effect the engine's reliability at idle.

RE: gummed up carb

Try soaking it in some fresh fuel. Normally, it's dried castor oil causing the carb to be gummed. The fresh fuel should work as a solvent for it.

If that doesn't work, remove the idle stop...

RE: High altitude engines

I'm up north in Fort Collins but still at about 5000 MSL. The thing that seems to work the best is simply starting out with a bigger engine. If it's a .40 size plane, get a .52.

Running about...

RE: What's the difference??? Edge, Extra, Yak?

The "L," as in "300L," is for low-wing, tandem seat. The "S," as in "300S," is a single-seat version with more of a mid-wing. The "300SP" and "LP" are their latest versions; they include upgrades...

RE: What's the difference??? Edge, Extra, Yak?

It's mainly horsepower, but Extra also produces an Extra 400 and 500. The Extra 500, a turboprop with 450 shp, seems to follow a model number pattern. The 200, 230, 260, and 300 all seem to follow a...

RE: help w/ .46 prop at 5000 ft MSL

You have to be careful with too high of pitch, however. If you go to high, it might be hard to slow the plane down on landing, and you can bog the engine down on vertical uplines. Let's say you try a...

RE: help w/ .46 prop at 5000 ft MSL

I'm at 5,000 feet, and I like the 11x6 APC best for my .46.

I had the same problem on a small ME-109 I built. The tendency to roll left was so bad, it rolled knife edge on me once. I thought of everything mentioned here: balance, high stall speed, warped...
