It's been 10 years since I originally posted about the mods I made to this Proboat Hydro and I still have it running strong (although I just literately upgraded the radio equipment).

Below are two...

RE: My Custom 1/8 Miss Bud

You can actually pick up the same turn fin from Insane Boats (link below). It's a perfect compliment for this hydro. They also have other turn fin options you can check out as well.

Hey Alexis, sorry for the late reply. I am using the BH Hanson tuned pipe and WTC Header. You can order them direct from BH Hanson. Here is the link: http://www.bhhanson.com/hbprod6.htm.

RE: My Custom 1/8 Miss Bud

Thanks and Happy New Year to you too!

That's a good question, I have received a few inquires in the past but didn't want to sell so I never came up with a price. I guess it really depends on...

RE: My Custom 1/8 Miss Bud

For the front airfoil wings I used doubled sided servo tape but only on the ends of the wings. What this actually does from what I tested is create a narrow passage of air between the underneath of...

RE: My Custom 1/8 Miss Bud

I honestly just went to my local Home Depot and picked up some spray paint used for outdoor plastics, ceramics, etc. Worked great.

RE: My Custom 1/8 Miss Bud

Unfortunately they don't make specific custom parts for these hydros. When I originally started reviewing what changes needed to be made, I did a lot of research and looked at what some of the...

RE: My Custom 1/8 Miss Bud

As long as you take your time and are careful you can use a grinder or hacksaw as Rybar mentioned but make sure you make make it as even as possible so you have no twisting or bending of the rudder...

RE: My Custom 1/8 Miss Bud

Not sure if you have investigated this or not, but I would take a look at some plans from Roger Newton (www.newtonmarine.com) and base your build from there. It sounds like you are scratch designing...

RE: Hydro airfoil ????z

mopartybob. . . . . . one of the best things that helped me with more stable and effecient speed outside of moving the CG and turn fin/rudder was the redesign of the stock strut. Take a look at the...

RE: My Custom 1/8 Miss Bud

You can absolutely add off-setted weight to the sponsons. Buy some airplane stick-on weights so you can move and adjust as necessary. Add some to the left sponson first and go from there. You...

RE: My Custom 1/8 Miss Bud

Start with moving more weight forward before adding the airfoils. The airfoils help balance the canard but they won't answer the bad CG issues of this hydro to begin with. Once you have your hydro...

RE: My Custom 1/8 Miss Bud

If you mill your stock bracket, you can just custom order the rudder and arm or you can buy the 141 assembly with it all.

RE: My Custom 1/8 Miss Bud

No need to trim the rudder. Let it do it's job and you'll be fine. Waterflow is excellent with the Speedmaster rudders so you should be good to go. I would also cut the front of your cowl to let...

As an added measure, I highly recommend adding autobailers at the rear transom to help drain any water that does come through.
