I’m back, I guess!

Bought my god son an arrma Senton 3s. We have had a good bit of fun with it so I decided to revive my old hyper 8.5 nitro buggy.

Getting back into the swing of it right now. Been trying to dial it...

RE: Hyper 8.5, What do you think??

As was said above this post, wait for the 9 to come out in a few months. It'll be better than the 8.5 from the looks of it. It'll also be better than 90% of the buggy designs out there today, IMO.

LMAO! I once thought as you... This is why I found your statements humerous (Not laughing at you or flaming here)...

RE: *** OFFICIAL BUYING BUGGY NEED ADVICE THREAD ***

Hyper 7 TQ is a great kit for the money. Ton's of spares for cheap on Ebay. Some of the Hyper 7 bits work on the 8.5 Pro and vice versa (Diffs, Wings, Wing mounts, etc...). It's definitely not a bad...

People tend to do both. I've done both in the past, but I just drill two holes in the rims these days - for the reasons stated above... :)

RE: XtremeLink™ - 2.4GHz for Futaba, JR, and Hitec radios

Without reading through 56 pages of this post - I'm lazy - I'd like to know if there are any plans for 3 Channel Surface Modules (I race 1/8th Buggies)?

TIA! ;)

RE: Official Hyper 8 Thread

Well, if you are patient, you can get most of the key bits on Ebay for super cheap. At least, you could in the past. There seems to be less Hyper 8.5 Pro Kit Chop Shop operations running now a...

RE: Official Hyper 8 Thread

It's probably 'worth it' to get the second car as a spare parts doner. Cheaper in the long run, I'd think.

RE: *** OFFICIAL BUYING BUGGY NEED ADVICE THREAD ***

Bob,

Try trading that 1/10 RTR for something you'll need on your future 1/8 Scale Buggy. What 1/10 do you have?

RE: nova P5XS idle.....

The P5X series of motors are benchmarks when it comes to ease of use and durability. They are some of the best motors out there for club racing, and you'll never ever regret buying one.

RE: hyper 8.5 questions

Titanium turnbuckles and hinge pins all the way around, I believe. Lighter weight CVDs. Better chassis bracing too. Longer engine mounts.

RE: Using a heat gun to break in..

If you live near a Walmart, you can get a decent heat gun for around $20. Check the interior painting supplies section. They carry a souped up hair-dryer for removing paint and wallpaper.

RE: Using a heat gun to break in..

You want to heat soak the whole engine (To the degree that it is possible) with the heat gun. Taking care that you aren't putting too much heat on the surrounding bits (Battery box, for example).

RE: hyper 8.5 questions

The spyders are better for the high bite/traction tracks typical of European grass/carpet tracks. Standard diffs are better for rough/medium to low traction tracks - I.e. typical american dirt tracks...

RE: Ok, so...

I'm in total agreement with Raycer X. Xray kits are 'quality', plain and simple. They really set the industry standard.

However, if you don't mind doing a little bit more routine maintenance,...

RE: Ok, so...

I couldn't say it better myself. The Hyper 8.5 IS the best bang for you buck out there right now. The parts are good and durable. The important bits (I.e. expensive bits like the driveline, arms,...

Make sure your throttle servo and linkage is setup properly - I.e. allows the carb slide to close all the way down to the idle screw (Fully returning to create the proper idle 'gap' in the carb).

RE: PMB setup system brilliant AND cheap

The PMB system is a good deal for the money, but you must be very careful with it as the screws can strip out of the acrylic material. I had one and broke a few of the uprights before I ultimately...

However, if you ever plan on racing it, don't bother with either of the two you mentioned.

Check out the Hyper...
